# Discount classes

> Choose whether a discount applies to products, the order or shipping.

The first choice for every campaign is where the discount applies. Click **Create** on the **Discounts Functions** card on the Home page, or **Create Campaign** on the Manage page, to open the **Discounts Functions** chooser.

| Entry | Applies to | Use it for |
| - | - | - |
| **Unified Discount** | Products, the order and shipping, in one discount | Combined offers such as 10% off products plus free shipping. See [Unified discount](https://codebeans-discount-engine-pro.mintlify.site/campaigns/unified-discount.md) |
| **Product Discounts** | Individual line items | Volume tiers, BXGY, BOGO, bundles and conditional product offers |
| **Order Discounts** | The order subtotal as a whole | Store-wide or spend-based offers on the entire order |
| **Shipping Discounts** | One or more shipping rates at checkout | Free-shipping thresholds, discounted express shipping |
| **Discount on label** | Not a discount | Opens [Discount prices](https://codebeans-discount-engine-pro.mintlify.site/storefront/discount-prices.md), which shows automatic discounts as strike-through prices |

>
> Each class is a separate Shopify discount function, so you cannot change the class of an existing campaign. To switch, create a new campaign and delete the old one.

## Shipping rate matching

Shipping discounts can target rates in several ways:

* **All** shipping rates.
* **Title**: rates whose title matches, or does not match, the names you list.
* **Rate cost**: rates within a price condition.
* **Total shipping cost**: based on the total shipping amount.
* **Multi-select**: combine several of these conditions.
